Privacy policy
How HerNext Network collects, uses and protects the information you give us.
Placeholders to complete before launch. The registered entity name, registered address, data protection contact and governing jurisdiction are marked below and must be filled in. This document is a starting point written to match what the website actually does. It is not legal advice, and it should be reviewed by a qualified adviser in the jurisdictions where HerNext operates.
1. Who we are
HerNext Network is a Pan-African institution working to expand access to opportunity for women across Africa. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" refer to [registered entity name], registered at [registered address].
For any question about this policy or about your information, write to info@hernextnetwork.org.
2. What we collect
We only hold what you choose to send us. We do not buy personal data, and we do not collect it from third parties.
When you register your interest
- Your name, email address, telephone number, country and city
- Your current role, organisation, organisation type, years of experience and sector
- The initiative that interests you, and your written answers about what you hope to gain and what you would contribute
- Any links you choose to share, such as a CV, professional profile or organisation website
- The fact that you gave consent, and when
When you send an enquiry
- Your name, email address, organisation, chosen subject and message
Automatically, when you visit
- This site sets no cookies of its own, and we run no analytics or advertising trackers
- Our host records standard server logs, including IP addresses, as described in section 4
3. Why we use it, and on what basis
- To respond to you
- So we can reply to an enquiry or contact you about the initiative you registered for. Our basis is your consent, which you give by submitting the form.
- To design our programmes
- Registrations tell us which sectors, countries and needs are represented, so we can shape programmes that are actually useful. Where we use registrations this way, we work with aggregate patterns rather than singling out individuals.
- To tell you when a programme opens
- Because you asked us to. You can ask us to stop at any time, and every message we send will say how.
We do not sell your information. We do not share it with anyone for their own marketing. Registering your interest does not enrol you in a mailing list beyond the purposes above.
4. Who else handles it
We use a small number of service providers to run this website. Each holds data only to provide its service to us.
- Formspree
- Receives and stores form submissions and forwards them to us by email. Servers are in the United States. See the Formspree privacy policy.
- GitHub Pages
- Hosts this website. GitHub records standard server logs, including visitor IP addresses, for security and operation. See the GitHub privacy statement.
- Google Fonts
- Serves the two typefaces this site uses. Loading a font sends your IP address and browser details to Google. See the Google privacy policy.
5. Where your information goes
The providers above operate outside many of the countries our visitors write from, and the United States in particular. If you are in a country whose law restricts transfers abroad, submitting a form means your information will be handled in those locations. If that is a concern, contact us by email instead and tell us so, and we will discuss what we can do.
6. How long we keep it
- Enquiries: kept for up to twenty four months after our last exchange, then deleted.
- Interest registrations: kept for up to thirty six months, so we can contact you when a relevant programme opens. If you tell us you are no longer interested, we delete your record promptly.
7. Your rights
Whatever country you are in, you may ask us to:
- Tell you what we hold about you, and give you a copy
- Correct anything inaccurate or incomplete
- Delete your information
- Stop using it, or restrict how we use it
- Withdraw consent, which does not affect anything done before you withdrew it
Write to info@hernextnetwork.org and we will respond within thirty days. There is no charge. If you believe we have handled your information badly, you may complain to the data protection authority where you live.
8. Security
Form submissions travel over an encrypted connection, and access to them is limited to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, so please do not send sensitive personal information, identity document numbers or financial details through this website. We will never ask you for a payment or for banking details in order to register your interest or take part in a programme.
9. Children
This website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under eighteen. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. If the change is significant and we hold your contact details, we will tell you directly.
11. Governing law
This policy is governed by the laws of [governing jurisdiction].
